Baška flyng place is not for beginners or pilots without supervision
The first thing that will be one to remember when flying in Baska are griffon vultures. Each flight in Baska is marked by the excellent flyight in the company of sky kings. Another great thing when flying in Baska is usually a beautiful view of the whole island and the fact that the high-flying, but close to the sea, which is normally rare at the free flight.

Flying conditions
Achieved heights in Baska are 2500 m above sea level and it is above sea level if you get it. With such a height island of Krk and Islands, Prvić, SS. Gregory, Rab, Pag, Cres are standing in your hands. With a high of more than 1500 m above sea without any problems, you can switch from one to the other side of Baska from the south to the northern ridge. Baska is great for vacation because while you are flying the rest of family enjoys swimming on the beautiful beach.
Takeoffs and terrain
Terrain, which is used to fly Baska make two mountain ridges Hlam 461 at north m and Great Hlam 482m on southern sides of Baska and the whole valley which is aggregated in the western part of the valley and produces strong thermas.
South ridge is used for flying on the northern wind with the start on the north side of the ridge while the southwesterly wind direction use on the south side of the northern reefs. Valley surrounded by the ridge is very thermally active especially with northern wind and good thermal gradient. In most cases, the thermal is driffted to the ridge where it climbs to the heights, but also you can find excellent thermal in the middle of the valley and on the small plateau reefs.
Here you fly with griffon vultures which thermal and rise together with you in a couple of meters away without any fear. Vultures are excellent indicators of thermal activity because the terrain is also used for large flights from Island Prvic to the Julian Alps. Surrounding areas from the air resembles moon surface and for foreign tourists this scene unusual and exciting and part of the memories of each pilot who was flying Baska..
N wind takeoff
Paragliding in Baska is the most popular for flying on weak northern wind, burin. To take off leads goat trail and you have to go by foot. You have to climb 300m up to the top of the ridge and you need app 45 minutes to do it.
Take off is easily recognizable by the beautiful green grass that cuts out in a bare rocky ground at the top of the ridge, a nicely maintained lawn by local sheeps, which guarantee that the grass remains ideal length. Take off is little more challenging in cases where there is no wind for a short space to take off while the broad enough for three gliders to spread out.
N wind Burin
For flying with the north wind Burin, it is necessary to distinguish the type of wind because flight in Bora not Burin can end up fatal, especially when on landing you have much stronger wind than on take off. Ideal north of the 3 m / s to 6 m / s.
Flying to the weaker wind is for enthusiasts, because your flight may take a very short because of the small difference in altitude to landing. Landing
For the purposes of landing you can use a variety of meadows in the valley and the beach but in the summer months better to avoid because of the large number of bathers.
S wind take off
To the takeoff of the S-SW you should get there by car to a local cemetery and church Sv. Ivan, which is located above the town of Baska.
Leave the car and then walk slowly about 30 minutes, following route "Put na Mjesec" ( Path to the Moon ) which us through beautiful pine forest and shade.
When you arrive at the top must go through the iron gate and walk some more 300 meters in the direction of the ridge and skip a stone walls.
All wooden and iron gates that while encountering uphill to the start, always close! 350 meters high start is located on a gentle slope and sufficient for two gliders.
Takingoff is recommended only if there headwind, because running on sharp stones can be dangerous. Start is not for beginners and those who are not good in ground handling.
Advice of local pilots is, while walking uphill to start, follow vultures and locations where thermal.
